11-year-old Blair Shanahan Lane killed by stray bullet on the Fourth of July

Sad news. Blair Shanahan Lane, the 11-year-old girl struck in the neck by a stray bullet on the Fourth of July, died Tuesday around 5 p.m.

Police responded to a call about a girl being injured in a fireworks accident at 43rd and Pitman around 9:15 p.m. July 4. But this wasn’t a fireworks accident. Officers figured out that Lane had been struck by a bullet, and she was rushed to a hospital.
