Every artist has a method. Every artist has a medium. Every artist has a canvas. And in Kansas City this week, several artists have their own personal filmmakers — artists themselves with particular methods, media and canvases. For its sixth-annual “Every Picture Tells a Story” contest, the Independent Filmmakers Coalition of Kansas City has invited local filmmakers to team up with any artist and create a five-minute film that illuminates that artist’s process, passion, vision or life story. Vying for three judged awards and an audience-choice award, the films screen tonight at 7 at the Just Off Broadway Theatre (3051 Central in Penn Valley Park), where the IFCKC hopes to display works from the featured artists — part film festival, part art gallery, creativity everywhere you look. Admission is $8 for the public and $5 for IFCKC members. For more information, call 816-582-6061.
